SIERRA IMPRESSIONS
Weaving by Cheryl Winstead
Cheryl obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from California State University at San Bernardino. An award-winning weaver, she received her hand-woven art training from Mary Weisell of Claremont, California in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. She relocated to the Eastern Sierras to devote more time to her art.
Currently residing in Bishop, California, Cheryl credits the colors and shapes of the Eastern Sierra landscape for her inspirational work with textiles.
Borrowing from the unique lighting and seasonal palette of her new world, Cheryl’s weavings present her impressions of a beautiful environment in constant flux.
